Prep rice as normal in your cooker but DO NOT ADD WATER YET.
Saffron is weird little dried flower bits. For 3 cups of rice I take a good pinch of saffron and put it in a small flat bottom Corian bowl, then take a small metal spoon and crush it to powder. It crushes easily and only takes maybe 30 seconds to do.
Then take warm water and carefully rinse out the saffron from the bowl into the rice pot. You’ll have to basically rinse out the bowl 3 to 5 times to get it all out.
Now finish adding water to the rice pot, and turn on and let cook.
